MUSICAL THEATRE CLASSES

The SPA Theatre Department boasts open enrollment for all classes, with the exception of auditioned groups (Show Choir/Main Stage Musicals). You may register for these classes at any time. If you are registered for one session, you are not automatically registered for the following session.

BROADWAY STUDIO – Let’s Go To the Movies: Hooray for Hollywood and Broadway University!

Grades 2*-5

September 11 – January 20:Let’s Go To the Movies: Hooray for Hollywood!
January 29 – June 2: Broadway University!

Thursdays 5:30-6:30pm – Theatre Studio with Miss Becky
Final Performance will take place on the last Saturday of your session in the afternoon in Theatre Studio.
Tuition: $298/session

*In order to take Broadway Studio as a 2nd grader, you must have completed a semester of Broadway Mini Studio.


Have a blast rehearsing an original musical revue while perfecting your musical theatre skills. Each actor will have an opportunity to learn how to audition, create a character, work memorization, and put on a show! This studio class will allow the student to learn all aspects of musical theatre while focusing on a final performance on the last Saturday at the end of the session!

MUSICAL THEATRE ACTING

Grades 5 – 7 & Grades 8 – 12

September 11 – January 20
January 29 – June 2

Mondays:
Grades 5-7: 6:45 – 7:45pm; $280/session
Grades 8-12: 7:45 – 9;00pm; $375/session

Students will focus on scenes and songs from great musicals, as if they were given that role in a play. This class will focus on building a character and ensemble in musical theatre. We will also touch on the ‘business’ aspects – putting together a resume, how to “work” the audition. An Observation and Q&A Session will be held at the end of class.
