Horton the Elephant, the Cat in the Hat and all of your favorite Dr. Seuss characters spring to life onstage in Seussical KIDS, a fantastical musical extravaganza!
Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant!

Rehearsals: Monday – Thursday, 9:30am – 12:00pm in Theatre Studio with Ms. Kristi and Ms. Tiffany
Final Performances: Friday, July 28 at 12:00pm and 6:00pm in Studio Theatre

SINGIN’ IN THE RAIN, JR

Ages: Students entering 6th – 9th grades

AUDITIONS: SUNDAY, MAY 21 6:45-9:00PM
6:45 – 7:30pm, Theatre Studio – Dance Call: Learn a dance combo with the ‘taste of dance in the style of the show’, bring your TAP shoes if you’ve got ‘em! Not sure if you can ‘dance the dance’?…come and check it out… and join us for some fun!
7:30 – 9:00pm – Acting/Singing Auditions in the Theatre Studio

Supporting/Ensemble Roles:
Not quite ready to Audition for a big role?  – Join us for the Dance Call (we’ll teach you a dance combination) on Monday, May 21 at 6:00pm and we’ll get you all registered! You’re welcome to stick around and learn a song or two, as well! The Ensemble is featured in so many numbers with Singin’ in the Rain, JR, lots of singing and dancing and featured moments!

Not a tapper? Not a problem!  Stay tuned for a special Singin’ The Rain beginning tap discount for cast members. Please be sure to join us for the DANCE CALL at 6:00pm on 5/21, too!

To prepare for your Leading/Featured Role Audition:
Please be familiar with the scene work (will be available in mid-April) and choose a song from our list (will be available in mid-April). Be prepared to sing and read the song/scene during your audition. You do not need to prepare a separate song. All those auditioning will be there between 6:45 – 9:00pm. Please dress comfortable and wear jazz or tennis shoes. Arrive a few minutes early to fill out paperwork. Please be sure you are warmed up!

Hilariously funny and touchingly honest, Urinetown provides a fresh perspective on one of America’s greatest art forms.

Rated: PG-13, for subject matter and language

AUDITIONS:
Thursday, May 18, 7:30 – 10:00pm
Sunday, May 21, 7 – 10:00pm
Tuesday, May 23, 7:00 – 10:00pm

Rehearsals:
May 25 – July 7 (no Rehearsal July 4)
Monday/Wednesday afternoons (12-6pm) and Tuesday/Friday late afternoon/evenings; weekends.
You will not be called to every rehearsal; flexible rehearsal schedule for working students, when conflicts are noted in advance.

By Audition Only: by appointment only.

Audition Requirements:
Prepare 32-48 bars of a song in the style of the show; you may choose to sing from the show. In addition to your song, be prepared to tell us a story – a funny or interesting tidbit of information – or a monologue. Please bring sheet music. Be sure that your song shows your acting ability. You may want to bring a second selection, as well. Please bring a snapshot or headshot and resume if available. Audition forms will be made available online after April 6.

** The styles learned in this impulse-generated class are at the core of basic acting, building your confidence, awareness and your funny bone! Improv, as a growing process, will always make this camp appropriate for repeat students.**

**This Camp is designed for students with an interest in the film and commercial market, which is quite different from the stage. Working both on and off the camera, we will learn the skills of ‘on-camera technique’. Actors will learn about the TV/Film Industry, how to read copy, find your camera angles, hit your mark, how to slate, audition and the next step in auditioning for this line of work!**

 

MUSICAL THEATRE AUDITION WORKSHOP
For Ages 8 – 18
Be Prepared for your next audition!

  • This workshop is an opportunity to learn from the Professionals at The School of Performing Arts, and sing your song with a live accompanist before your next audition.
  • Learn the importance of how to act and find the story within your song, what to wear and what not to wear and how to conduct yourself at your audition and so much more.
  • Don’t have a song selection? We can help you find the right choice.

 
An excellent way to work out your ‘nerves’ before your next big audition. You never know – the next big star could be you!

**This series is designed as a ‘Put It All Together, Show Choir Style’, allowing students the opportunity to experience Show Choir.  Students who have a love for music, theatre, dance, and performance will have a blast, learning about show choir techniques, working singing/dancing and performing at the same time… and perfecting their talents for their big show choir audition coming up at the end of the summer!**

 

SHOW CHOIR DRILLS & SKILLS
Ages 8 – 10 and Ages 11 – 14

**This class will work the fundamentals of show choir choreography, working with technique, muscle memory, repetition and established choreography sequences to polish up your moves! This class is an excellent addition to our Show Choir Boot Camp, along with anyone wanting a leg-up in Show Choir!**
