Sasha Vargas is thrilled to be a part of the School of Performing Arts in this new position. She has been teaching for 18 years and has worked with our students since 2002. Her theatre credits include The All Night Strut (choreographer, Jeff Award), Carousel (Louise), The Light in the Piazza (choreographer and dancer). Company work includes Joel Hall Dancers, Ascension – the Kirby Reed Project, River North Chicago Dance Company (apprentice). She toured Europe on a Department of Defense U.S.O. tour and the Caribbean and Bermuda as the dance captain of Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. She has traveled across the country working industrials, teaching workshops, and setting choreography. She is the co-founder of Legend Dance Company at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and has directed several youth dance companies. Her choreography has been seen at the State Street Thanksgiving Day Parade, Dance Chicago, Dance for Life: Next Generation, Dance Fest, Dance Week and other festivals. She is excited to continue her journey with the faculty and families of the School of Performing Arts.
