then The School of Performing Arts Youth Musicians
is the perfect opportunity for YOU!

The School of Performing Arts Youth Musicians is designed for students of late elementary through advanced playing levels. Weekly one hour rehearsals focus on rhythmic and listening skills, intonation, technique, and ensemble performance skills. Ensembles take part in public performances and local community events throughout the Chicagoland area during the holiday, spring, and summer months. Members are required to attend all rehearsals and performances September through June. Please consider this time commitment before auditioning or rejoining the group.

Rehearsals will take place on a weekly basis. A schedule will be formulated depending on the availability of each group. Returning ensemble members are automatically accepted into the program for the following year. New members must attend a placement audition.
Current events now under consideration include performances at Naper Settlement, Dupage Children's Museum, Navy Pier, and Chicago's Daley Plaza.


Audition Dates for the 2011-2012 season will take place on Friday, August 5 from 11am to 2pm. Please call 630.717.6622 for further information or to schedule an audition appointment.

Tuition: $300 / $40 yearly materials fee
Students will be responsible for providing their own concert attire.

ShowChoir  

 

 

 

 

 

Showchoir

This high energy, fast paced choir will knock your socks off with fun! Show Choir is all the rage these days… not to mention the best way to get your glee on!! Students will learn proper breathing, posture, and vocal technique as well as choreography designed for show choirs. The group's repertoire includes Contemporary, Broadway and Popular Pop songs, as well as traditional choral pieces. Members receive one hour of vocal rehearsal and one hour of dance/choreography class per week in working to produce their original showcase. This ensemble takes part in public performances at holiday time, spring and summer, and at various community events – they have graced the stages of Disney World, Navy Pier, The Museum of Science & Industry, Naperville's own Hometown Holidays and more!
Members are required to attend all rehearsals and performances. Students who cannot make such a commitment need not audition. Members are responsible for basic performance attire. See Performances and Auditions.

2 1/4 hours / week - Sondheim/Porter Rooms
$430 / 18 week semester, students must make a school-year long commitment
