The School of Performing Arts is thrilled to continue our Home School Program! It’s designed for homeschooled children between the ages of 6-12 whose parents desire a high-quality arts experience for their children. This program is taught by professional artists whose passion is to share their gifts and to express how art influences people’s lives. The Home School Program is designed for you and your child’s needs, and our faculty can adapt our curriculum to enhance what you are teaching at home in order to provide more depth of learning.

February 15 – May 17: Performance Workshop – Adventures in Disney’s The Lion King – Using the ideas from our previous workshop, we’ll delve into the world of Disney’s The Lion King – the African Savanna, a script with stories and movement full of African History and traditions will be showcased inside this fun musical!
A final performance in our Studio Theatre will take place on the afternoon of Wednesday, May 17. (No class on March 29, Spring Break)

About the teacher: Becky Cooper-Rezek Becky received her BA in Dance Performance from Oklahoma City University in 1996. She has been a dance instructor since 1989, teaching first in her hometown of Lubbock, Texas for the United Way, then in Oklahoma, and finally in the Chicagoland area. Becky has been a guest teacher and performer for programs and workshops across the country and internationally. She has starred in several musical productions throughout her pre-professional career, has danced professionally with Chicago Tap Theatre, Especially Tap Company, and was in the original company of Billy Seigenfeld’s Jump Rhythm Jazz Project. Becky has danced on Ed McMahon’s Star Search and was the featured soloist in Mickey’s Starland Show at Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, where she sang and danced for thousands of children every day. She has been a dance and theatre instructor and choreographer for the School Of Performing Arts since 1996.
Throughout the years, Becky’s choreography for the SPA Dance Ensemble has been consistently acknowledged for its creativity, storytelling, and entertainment value. In 2007 she received the New Voice in Choreography award from Dance Chicago. Currently, Becky is fulfilling her lifelong dream and calling to help children discover how they can use their God-given talents to reach others. She is a graduate student at Wheaton College, studying Christian Formation and Ministry for the purpose of growing and solidifying dancers into powerful spiritual instruments. Becky lives in the ‘burbs with her two awesome kids, which she home schools.
