When Diane Bancroft made 20 flapper dresses in 1971 for her Senior High talent show, she didn't know that costuming for singers and dancers would someday be her life. Diane currently presides over 5th Avenue Costumes at The School of Performing Arts,Naperville's premier shop for musical theater,dance,Halloween,and more. She has costumed or assisted with numerous productions including Mame, Annie Get Your Gun, The Sound of Music, High School Musical 1 and 2, Annie, Cinderella, Grease, Lend Me a Tenor, Urinetown, and 13. Diane started costuming professionally for the School Of Performing Arts Dance and Theater in 2000. Her creative and beautiful designs for the Dance Ensemble have been acknowledged by several local and national dance competitions over the years. Most recently, her designs made page 16 as well as the cover of the Fox Valley Park District Fall Activities brochure. Diane also designs for Community Christian Church's dance ministry the Shining Lights. She loves giving back to God the talents He gave her. Besides costuming for dance and theater, Diane enjoys making costumes for competitive skaters, teaching the new generation the art of sewing, and making fabulous contest-winning Halloween costumes for her grandchildren. She resides in Warrenville with her husband Dan and her dog Monty, who loves everything she creates.
