The School of Performing Arts is thrilled to welcome A&A Ballet, led by Anna Reznik and Alexei Kremnev, to our family. A&A Ballet will provide guidance, directorship and instruction for The School of Performing Arts dance department. Alexei will share his vision of tradition and innovation as the Artistic Director of the department and Anna will serve as the Director of the ballet department.
A&A Ballet curriculum serves the growth of students from their first encounters with music and movement to becoming accomplished dancers. Their method is based primarily on a clear and universal structure of the Russian school, with a great knowledge of the most advanced teaching methods. This method is easily adapted to all levels. SPA and A&A Ballet will be offering ballet classes in two locations this year: The School of Performing Arts new location, 1112 South Washington, Naperville, IL American Rhythm Center, 410 South Michigan Avenue, Chicago IL.

PRE-PROFESSIONAL BALLET PROGRAM ~ check back soon for full 2017-2018 schedule!
The Pre-Professional Program* is designed for the Level II+ students who want a more rigorous ballet experience. Students choosing this track will be required to take multiple ballet classes a week and must make a yearly commitment to the program. Acceptance into the program is by audition only.

Jazz includes various styles characterized by the use of improvisation and influenced by the rhythms and techniques of jazz music. Jazz is an upbeat and energetic style of dance derived from the roots of ballet technique. See schedule for class times.
An American art form, tap is making music with your shoes. It is percussive, rhythmic, and can be improvisational or musical theater based. See schedule for class times.
Hip Hop includes a wide range of styles such as breaking, popping, locking, krumping, and even house dance. It features isolating body movements with specific rhythms and dynamic contrasts of sharp and relaxed qualities. See schedule for class times.
By combining elements of ballet and jazz techniques, you can express yourself with inspirational movement through lyrics. Lyrical classes must be taken with concurrent jazz or ballet technique classes. See schedule for class times.
Contemporary dance is a very interpretive style that focuses on unconventional movements. It is considered unconventional because it shifts away from classical ballet and lyrical dance forms. Unlike classical ballet, contemporary dance does not have fixed movements but instead searches for new forms and dynamics. It focuses on oppositional movement, alignment, raw emotion, and systematic breathing. Students must be taking a concurrent ballet or jazz class to enroll. See schedule for class times.
TURNS & LEAPS
This class will concentrate on the technique aspects of leaping, jumping, and turning. It is designed for dancers with well-established ballet and jazz technique. See schedule for class times.
BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND! STRETCH & STRENGTHENING
Stretching, strengthening, Pilates based exercises, yoga inspired exercises, and cardiovascular endurance will be covered during each quarter. These classes complement a strong jazz/ballet background and are a way to work on increasing flexibility and core strength.
