You will not be called to every rehearsal; flexible rehearsal schedule for working students.
Rehearsals: June 9 – July 3 (no Rehearsal July 4)
Tech Week: July 6 – July 10 (day time/evenings)
Final performances: July 11 – July 13, 2014 at Madden Theatre with possible extension

10:00 – 11:00am: Fluffernutters (grades 3 – 6)
11:00am – 12:00pm: Main Melody (grades 7 – 9 and advanced grade 6)

SPA’s own Show Choirs – The Fluffernutters & Main Melody – return for another Smash Season! This high energy, fast paced choir will knock your socks off with fun! Show Choir is all the rage these days… not to mention the best way to get your glee on!! Students will learn proper breathing, posture, and vocal technique as well as choreography designed for show choirs. The group’s repertoire includes Contemporary, Broadway and Popular Pop songs of today and yesterday. Members receive 2 1/2 hours each week of vocal rehearsal and dance/choreography class in working to produce their showcase within each performance season. This ensemble takes part in public performances at holiday time, spring and summer, and at various community events – they have graced the stages of Disney World, Navy Pier, The Museum of Science & Industry, Naperville’s own Hometown Holidays and more!

Calling All Music Students!
Are you looking for ways to put those private lessons to good use?
Do you want to make new friends who share the same passion for music as you do?
Do you want to learn more about the art of playing in an ensemble?
If you said YES to these questions… then The School of Performing Arts’ Youth Musicians is the perfect opportunity for you! The School of Performing Arts’ Youth Musicians is designed for students of the late elementary through advanced playing levels. Weekly, one hour rehearsals focus on rhythmic and listening skills, intonation, technique, and ensemble performance skills. Ensembles take part in public performances and local community event throughout the Chicagoland are during the holiday, spring and summer months. Members are required to attend all rehearsals and performances September through June. Please consider this time commitment before auditioning or rejoining the group.
Rehearsals will take place on a weekly basis. A schedule will be formulated depending on the availability of each group. Returning ensemble members are automatically accepted into the program for the following year. New members must attend a placement audition.
Current events now under consideration include performances at Naper Settlement, Dupage Children’s Museum, and Navy Pier. In addition, our ensembles traveled to Ann Arbor Michigan to perform in the Spring of 2012 and Cleveland, Ohio in 2013. A similar tour will be planned for the 2013-2014 school year. The location will be announced at a later date.
Tuition: $300 / 18 week semester (additional $40 yearly materials fee)
Students will be responsible for providing their own concert attire.

Dance Ensemble Auditions for Fall 2014: June 8th, 2014
Ages 7 and up
The Dance Ensemble is a competitive performing group with both regional and national championships. More than just a performing group, the Ensemble is designed for young, passionate artists who want to take their performing and dance abilities to the next level. The Ensemble fosters growth in creating the whole performer, focusing on multiple genres of dance. Ensemble students have had the privilege of working with some of Chicago’s finest and highly acclaimed choreographers and has shared the stage with numerous professional dance companies at some of the most prestigious dance events in the city, including Dance Chicago.
