Jamie McCollough
Dance Instructor

A new resident of the Chicagoland area, Jamie is very excited to join the faculty of SPA where she brings her many years of experience teaching, choreographing and performing. Jamie began her classical ballet training in Northern Vermont at the Wolcott Children's Ballet where she was trained in the Vaganova and Bournonville styles by Kennet Oberly of John Cranko's Stuttgart Ballet in Germany, Peter Silken of the Kirov Ballet in St. Petersburg, among others. Jamie performed on tour throughout New England with the Wolcott Children's Ballet and was featured in a Smithsonian Magazine article about the school and tour. There she also went on tour with formal principal dancer of the Estonia Theater Ballet, Larissa Sintsova , performing in an original work by Oberly across New England and into the Midwest at the Ruth Page Foundation. Jamie continued her training as a full time academic and ballet student in the Professional Ballet Program at Canada's National Ballet School in Toronto and later attended the Rock School in Philadelphia.

After studying dance at Goucher College and the University of South Florida, Jamie performed and choreographed as a member of the Orchesis Dance Company at the University of Vermont where she also obtained her B.A. in English.

Jamie's teaching and choreographing experience includes many years as a ballet and jazz instructor at the Stowe Dance Academy in Vermont where her students ranged in age from 3 through adult as well as at River Arts, a not-for-profit arts school in Morrisville, Vermont. Jamie looks forward to working with students at SPA and sharing her love and passion for dance and the performing arts.
